2025-26 NEWHA Tournament Field Set
WINTHROP, Mass. – The New England Women's Alliance today announced the field for the 2025-26 New England Women's Hockey Alliance tournament. The tournament will feature all eight programs competing in a best-of-three format in the quarterfinals, with advancing teams competing in a single-elimination format for the subsequent rounds.
The quarterfinals begin with four separate series beginning on Friday, February 27, including first-round series between #1 Franklin Pierce and #8 Saint Michael's, #2 Assumption and #7 Post, #3 Saint Anselm and #6 Sacred Heart, and #4 Stonehill and #5 LIU.
#1 Franklin Pierce (19-11-2, 18-8-2 NEWHA) and #8 Saint Michael's (1-31-0, 1-27-0 NEWHA) kick things off in Winchendon, Mass., at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. During the regular season, Franklin Pierce went undefeated against the Purple Knights with three shutout victories over four games played.
#2 Assumption (17-14-3, 17-8-3 NEWHA) hosts #7 Post (10-23-1, 10-17-1 NEWHA). The two programs met four times in the regular season, with Assumption besting the Eagles with a 2-1-1 record. The most recent weekend series matchup between the two teams took place Jan. 9 and 10 with Post taking the first victory at home in overtime before Assumption earned the season-series victory with a win in the second game of the weekend.
#3 Saint Anselm (16-17-1, 16-11-1 NEWHA) will play host to #6 Sacred Heart (13-19-2, 12-14-2 NEWHA) at Sullivan Arena in Manchester, N.H. The third-seeded Hawks and Pioneers split the regular season (2-2-0), each earning their victories on home ice. Sacred Heart, the reigning NEWHA Tournament Champions, enter the postseason looking to repeat.
#4 Stonehill (16-16-2, 16-10-2 NEWHA) secured hosting duties against #5 LIU (18-15-1, 16-11-1 NEWHA). The fourth-seeded Skyhawks went 2-1-1 in the regular season against the Sharks, earning one win at home and one on the road. The Sharks have won two of the last three NEWHA Championships and look to reclaim the title this year.
The semifinal round, slated for Wednesday, March 4, will consist of the four advancing teams from the best-of-three series. The tournament will conclude with the championship game, set for Saturday, March 7.
