Finalists for 2025-26 NEWHA Major Awards Announced

WINTHROP, Mass. – The New England Women's Hockey Alliance has announced its finalists for the NEWHA Major Awards prior to the unveiling of the 2025-26 major awards and all-NEWHA teams. The finalists are listed below, in alphabetical order:

Player of the Year

Jill Hertl, Franklin Pierce
Kayla McGaffigan, Assumption
Brooklyn Schneiderhan, Saint Anselm

Defensive Player of the Year

Maggie Korneta, Franklin Pierce
Justina Valentini, Assumption
Reagan Whynot, Stonehill

Goaltender of the Year

Kayla Czukoski, Saint Anselm
Jill Hertl, Franklin Pierce
Hannah Saunders, Post

Rookie of the Year

Addison Andre, Franklin Pierce
Kayla Czukoski, Saint Anselm
Natalie Joiner, Assumption

Coach of the Year

Sam Ftorek, Saint Anselm
Joe Grossman, Assumption
David Stockdale, Franklin Pierce

The major award winners will be announced along with the All-NEWHA teams will be announced on Thursday, March 10 at 10:00 a.m.

ABOUT THE NEW ENGLAND WOMEN'S HOCKEY ALLIANCE

Founded in 2017, the New England Women's Hockey Alliance is comprised of three NCAA Division I institutions and five NCAA Division II institutions. Members of the NEWHA include Assumption University, Franklin Pierce University, Long Island University, Post University, Sacred Heart University, Saint Anselm College, Saint Michael's College, and Stonehill College.
