NEWHA Weekly Awards: Week 6
Player of the Week
Lucy DeCoteau, Saint Anselm College
The sophomore notched three goals to help the Hawks to a weekend sweep over Sacred Heart on home ice. She scored two power play goals in Friday evening's 4-1 win, including the game-winner. Her three goals from the weekend's campaign put her atop the league leaderboard in goals with seven on the season, while also slotting her second on the leaderboard in points with eight. She tallied seven total shots while leading all players with 31 faceoff victories in the 2-0-0 weekend. She also currently sits second in plus/minus at +5 on the season. The Canton, N.Y., native's contributions helped the Hawks reach the top of the NEWHA standings with a 5-1-0 conference record.
Defensive Player of the Week
The junior defender tallied two goals — one in each game — over the weekend sweep against Saint Michael's for Post. She also added an assist in Friday's game to total three points during the Eagles' sweep of Saint Michael's on the road. The Maple Grove, Minn. native was a +5 on the ice this weekend and also tallied 13 shots on goal with one blocked shot.
Goaltender of the Week
Hannah Saunders, Post University
The senior netminder went 2-0-0 between the pipes for the Eagles against Saint Michael's this weekend. She recorded her first shutout of the season on Friday, with 34 saves to her credit. She recorded a .964 save percentage for the weekend and 53 total saves. The Ottawa, Ontario native's performance contributed to her second and third wins of the season.
Rookie of the Week
Kayla Czukoski, Saint Anselm College
The freshman backstopped the Hawks to a 2-0-0 weekend against Sacred Heart. She posted a combined .972 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average in the weekend's campaign. She made 38 saves in the Hawks' 4-1 win Friday evening before registering 32 stops in Saturday's 3-1 victory. Through 10 games played, she has attained a 5-5-0 record overall, with a 5-1-0 record in conference contests.
